somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond by E. E. Cummings somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near
your slightest look will easily unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully,mysteriously)her first rose
or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;
nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility:whose texture
compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing
(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens;only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands
Show us something you're allegic to.
I'm really allergic to the world, if you think about it. Gluten, animal hair dander, milk products, pollen, trees, strawberries...but I'm deathly allergic to CATS. So naturally, while looking for a good picture to post, I Googled "HAIRIEST CAT."
These were among my top choices on the first page...ENJOY!
Share your favorite holiday song.
In fact, there is a rumor that there is ANOTHER clip by this Steve M...one that is said to be even more shocking than O Holy Night. I MUST HAVE IT. The first person to find it is crowned Internet Cyber Stalker of the Universe. There will be a ceremony and EVERYTHING.
The only thing that would make this more suspenseful is if he was a crazy dude living in a cabin in the backwoods of Montana, holed up with an arsenal of weaponry and waiting for the mutated vampire zombies to attack...and by the way, this would make a GREAT Law and Order episode...Dick Wolf, are you listening?!
A warning: Listening to this song all the way through is truly one of the most painful experience I have ever lived through. But don't wuss out and quit before the end...the payoff is HUGE. You will never be able to listen to another holiday song again without thinking first of fabulous Steve and his soulful rendition. He means it, y'all.
I actually got picked apart by a couple of people who were so offended by the song they actually berated me for exposing them to it. FOOLS.
What these scrooges need to understand is that Steve honestly put all of his heart and soul into performing this song. It wasn't meant to be funny, but has become the cause of many a ruptured spleen because of how insanely great it is.
I love you, Steve M. Don't ever change!
Q: Show us a holiday craft.
A: My awesome 5th Grade class made these relief print holiday cards. Super-hubby Andy taught them how on the day of our field trip to the Asian Art Museum. We used styrofoam meat trays donated by the local Safeway, and the kids used dulled pencils to make their designs. I am tempted to sell them and make a fortune, they're so incredibly cool. Alex made my favorite, I think. Andy calls it, "Sneaky Santa."
